Thumpermonkey Lives! Progressive Metal
Over-egging the pudding of good taste, Thumpermonkey shake up an ill-advised cocktail of post-metal sludge, Bowie-esque warcries and mathematics homework; dropping in a brine-tinged olive of 70's progressive rock, and finishing it off with a gaudy little umbrella.
Described variously in the press as: "a mad symphony of the bizarre"; "David Bowie meets Napalm Death"; "a bunch of fuckin' loons dickin' about"; and "very English"; Thumpermonkey have been writing and recording in their current line-up since 2005. They completed their first LP, Chap With The Wings, Five Rounds Rapid, in February 2006, received as "an unusual and darkly menacing record", "a startling sonic collage" and leaving "a lasting impression and a sinister aftertaste." They toured Great Britain in Summer ’06 and released their new album, Bring Me Sun For Breakfast in May 2007. Mayors of MiyazakiMath/Art Punk
Miyazaki started as a one-man band. born in cardiff and now in london, everything was just gareth, writing, playing, recording, mixing, cds + covers, distribution, promotion, website, artwork + photography.
In august 2005, the project acquired extra members. thimas 'jesus the kidnapped' bamber (see also of knights of cassidy and jeremy warmsley [transgressive] ) stuck his bass in yr face, and tomothy cook (of robot blues, and more recently simon mastrantone [rekabet] as well as a gazillion other bands) be beatin' up a rhythmical rock omelette. the new and first full band release kancho was completed recently, see the sounds page if you want to order a copy.
Sadly thim-ra (the kidnapped) bamber is departed on a year long journey of discovery in october 2006. but were lucky enough to have been offered the services of the multi-talented claire thomas to take the low end in tim's absence. The Doghouse Riley BandPsychedelic Garage Rock
The manic energy, raw sound and melody of The Pixies. The eclecticism and humour of Frank Zappa, 10cc and No Smoking Orchestra. The libidinous garage rock swagger of Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper. The pop sensibilities and guitar heroics of Extreme. The dark sonic landscapes of unlikely bedfellows Joy Division, mid period PJ Harvey and Pink Floyd. The raw emotion and bedroom aesthetics of "outsider musicians" like The Shaggs, R. Stevie Moore and Wild Man Fischer. The Doghouse Riley Band are good-time rock and rollers, art rocker and shameless prog-lovers all. Please see the hard rocking EP, Tooting Progressive Club, release in June of 2007. DiefenbakerDreamy Folk Duo
Diefenbaker are aiming to create a modern acoustic sound that incorporates the aggression of rock but also the delicacy and poise of classical music, without betraying the simplicity and authenticity of folk. As yet, they have opted not to include any form of percussion, electronic or otherwise (except, of course, for their collaboration with MButterfly), so as to preserve a natural spontaneity of rhythm and an almost impressionistic minimalism. Although their earlier songs are mostly short straightforward minor-key tunes, Diefenbaker are gradually developing a more dynamic style, which is likely to include a wider variety of instruments and a greater breadth of changes in ambience. They released their latest EP, Traveldragon, in May 2007. Montana PeteMath/Art Punk
Montana Pete have reformed as "Montana Pete" and are currently putting together a pricing guide to assist promoters and entrepreneurs when planning their Montana Pete concert.
All too often even experienced gig organisers can be put into a state of anxiety by the unknowns inherent in balancing the books. Montana Pete aim to remove this anxiety by allowing you to send us the necessary funds ahead of the big night according to our transparent and unique pricing guide (tbc). Thus will you be able to concentrate on your event's big decisions comfortable in the knowledge that not only have you booked A Grade entertainment but that you have paid for it. Their most recent album, Ixn Bxigxnt, is available for free from their website. 50ft PandaStoner Rock Duo
Its all about the riffs; pure rhythm and sensitive musicianship can make for interesting and engaging music without the need for catchy melodies and lyrics. The duo’s sound has roots in stoner (Kyuss, Clutch), metal (Mastodon, Melvins) and prog (Lightning Bolt, Oxes) but is a culmination of all 3 and more. Having played together in various bands over the years, the idea for 50ft Panda was to strip back to the basic formula of a rock song: the riff and the beat. Formed in late 2006 from the ashes of post-punk math rock supremos ‘Akira’s Cousin’, 50ft Panda have been writing and honing over the past few months, which has resulted in a self titled full length 6 track EP and a host of energetic and memorable gigs in London and Oxford. Part RocketExperimental Rock Collective
The various rocket parts have been grouped by function into structure, payload, guidance, and propulsion systems. There are other possible groupings. For the purpose of weight determination and flight performance, engineers often group the payload, structure, propulsion structure (nozzle, pumps, tanks, etc.), and guidance into a single empty weight paramter. The remaining propellant weight then becomes the only factor that changes with time when determining rocket performance. Happy EggsProgressive Power-pop
The three members of Happy Eggs started out on different paths.
Guitarist / Singer Rael originally played indie / art rock, though this quickly turned into grunge, and eventually decomposed into out-and-out metal, as was the general pattern through the 90s. It was this (periodic) obsession with heavy, loud things that led Rael to an Alt Metal band called Mistaken ID, joining on drums in 2001 alongside bassist, Raphaël.
Raphaël then spent a couple of years locked in his bedroom, writing thousands of metal riffs, occasionally leaving to play in a Beach Boys tribute band. Rael focused on guitar, and started to write high-energy rhythms within catchy song structures; but with no band mates, he was reduced to the rank of “solo studio artist.”
Realising that this was not the way forward, Raphaël and Rael started jamming again, and embarked on a search for a drummer. One day, an e-mail was received from a Hungarian called Daniel.
The trio have been busy practicing, are razor tight to the point of autism, and have burst forth upon the London Gig circuit. Email: Kat MarshFunk-Soul Sister
Currently Kat (vox/guitars/bass/looping) and Matt Brooks (bass - in many forms/vox/looping). We've been playing together since New Year's Eve 2006. Our live show is... somewhat varied. Kat plays acoustic guitar, electric guitar & bass, sometimes all at the same time thanks to the miracle of looping. Matt plays many kinds of bass... six-string, fretless, double... and is pretty damn awesome at them all. Check out Matt's myspace here for more info. We're working on a full set of our own tunes right now (we're getting there!), but until then we're playing some covers of well cool songs too.
We play around Devon & Cornwall pretty regularly and we've also started to travel further afield. If you wanna hook us up with a gig in your village/town/city then message us dude! We'd well appreciate it (and we'll almost certainly say yes).

Todger, the first and last purveyors of the finest pan-genre-omni-rock, has always existed, lurking in every crevasse and abyss across this sullied globe, awaiting for the time when it would be dragged kicking and screaming, soaked in the juices of a thousand hard labours, into the these dark times, sometime in the year of our warlord 2001.
After a storming reception in the badlands of Birmingham, appreciated most of all and often solely by the members of the band, the time came to pass that these comrades of rock decided that it was there Rock God given mission to disband and spread the good word across the four corners of this blighted isle in 2004.
However the forces of fate, like the cheap elastic on a pair of economy pants, could not withstand the mighty swelling of the musical loins of rock and once again Todger began to rise again. They are back with a full rock line-up, coming in your face in a bar near you.
